Air Raid Victims – Update

I hope this finds you all safe and well in these strange times.

In my time at home I have played around with the Find a Grave site and added the few Raid Victims who had previously been missed.   In addition in preparation for the fact that we may not be able to get down to the Cemetery on 25th May with our usual flowers I have set up a “Virtual Cemetery” for the 81 who died that day.   We can put virtual flowers on the site and that is what I will do.

If you want to have a look it’s on the find a grave site – I realise a lot of you will know how to find this virtual cemetery – but for those who don’t – it’s:

Go into www.findagrave.com

Then bring up one of the entries I created – “Mabel Bowbrick, died 1917 Folkestone will do it.

Click on “view source” at bottom of grey bar

then click on “margaret and clemmie” at the top of the next grey bar

Then open “Great Folkestone Air Raid

I have made it “public” so you should be able to – let me know if not.

There 82 entries – the extra is Otto Marx who had a connection to the 1917 Raid and the 2017 Service.   His building firm re-built both Tontine Street shops in 1917 and he was living at 155 Sandgate Road Folkestone – Folkestone Methodist Church now stands on the site of 153/155 Sandgate Road!!!
